Given Design Problem

While remote working is great, it’s still important to have face-to-face time to help build strong relationships. Organizations are bridging this gap by hosting
onsite get-togethers in locations around the world. However...
The process of organizing online-to-offline work trips is challenging and time consuming.
Solution
An work-trip planning tool that increases efficiency for both organizers and participants.

User Journey Map of Micheal (An Event Planner)
From interviews, personas, and user journey map, we concluded that large-scale event planners and participants have very different goals and priorities as planners experience a much more complex user journey.
Research on Competitors
How might we create a trip-planning experience that is less time-consuming for both organizers and international participants of a remote working company?
Ideation + Design
With our users who mostly rely on desktop or laptop for work in mind, we decided to design a desktop app to maximize usability and efficiency. Now, what features are the most necessary to solve user pain point of lack in efficiency in work trip planning?

Lessons Learned + Next Steps
  • Team work makes best work. This was my first UX competition and definitely one of the best learning experience I've ever had. My two teammates and I dedicated every second of the weekend researching, designing, testing, going to coffee chats with mentors for feedback, improving, and challenging our old ideas for a best solution. In this process, I realized how important it is to know your strength as a team player. Our team coordinated effectively because we were clear of our tasks and we communicated efficiently whenever need help.
  • If we had more time, our next steps for this case study is to conduct more usability testing with different-sized companies and target users to gather insights and improve on the next iteration; Develop mobile app terminals to improve efficiency in trip planning via tracking & receiving notification anytime, anywhere.
